Ripley’s Jellyfish Exhibit

Broadway at the Beach, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

The Jellyfish Exhibit was a Design/Build project for Tungsten.  All aspects of the project: conceptual design, design coordination, construction documents and specifications, cost estimating, design adaptation to estimate, procurement, subcontractor bidding, project management, site supervision, owner scope coordination, quality control, and close out – were all handled by Tungsten.  This renovation consisted of demolition of the existing snack bar, then utilizing the space for the new jellyfish exhibit.  Being a fast-tracked project, Tungsten LLC completed the design just ahead of the construction, and was directing pre-construction efforts at the same time to minimize the turn around so that loss of revenue was kept to a minimum.  Challenging aspects of construction including tying into the existing LSS system, protecting the sea animals from construction debris, carrying out construction while the facilities remained in full operation and coordinating the delivery and installation of the 40 foot salt water tank.  This installation included the user of engineered temporary shoring and a specialty millwright company.
